Deep Cleaning

An important part of any domestic cleaning program for carpets and upholstery is deep cleaning.  It does not have to be done as often as for instance, vacuuming, however it should not be overlooked altogether. 

If you have ever seen what it's like when a coffee table has been in the same position on a carpet for a long period of time, and then you move it  and the colours underneath are a lot brighter, then you will know what deep cleaning is for.  The coffee table protected that part of the carpet from accumulating as much dirt, so it retained the carpet's true character.  What is generally so strange about this sort of revelation is that you did not realise before that your carpet had actually lost its colour and vitality everywhere else.

If you carpet is relatively old and has not received any deep cleaning before, you will notice a distinct difference when either the steam cleaning or dry carpet cleaning method is applied.  There are two different methods because steam cleaning your carpet actually washes it and not all carpets like water.  It is otherwise known as the hot water extraction method, and that is because hot water is used to perform the carpet cleaning, and this is then extracted so that your carpet dries off quicker.

The level of water, along with the fact that it has to be applied to the carpet at such high pressure, means that this is not an appropriate carpet cleaning technique for all carpets, some of which need a softer touch.  This is where dry carpet cleaning comes in.  The need for this is much the same as why dry cleaning is required for clothes, but for carpets it is not chemicals which are used but rather powder, granules or occasionally foam.  Our professional cleaners will always know the most appropriate method to use for your specific carpet so that no harm will come to it, while at the same time achieving excellent results.


Having said that, for upholstery cleaning, chemicals are often needed.  These are all non-toxic as well as being environmentally friendly so there is no need to worry about any residue that might be left over.  As even if it were, they are totally safe if anyone came in contact with them. 

Again, this is a very important part of any domestic cleaning in order for upholstery to keep its freshness.  This is especially so as upholstery often does not get the regular vacuuming which carpets usually get, so in many cases there is a lot more deep down dirt than there is on carpets.
