Local Chingford Info

Chingford is an outer area of London which belongs to the London Borough of Waltham Forest. The main landmarks there are river Lea and the William Girling and King George V reservoirs, famous together as the Chingford reservoirs. The name of the area derives from old English and it means King’s river.

Chingford is a beautiful place with great ancient historical buildings and reference with royalty. One of the most important places of interest in the district is Queen Elizabeth’s Hunting Lodge. The building is quite interesting as it was used as a place for observation of deer hunting. It was a bit renovated but it still has that ancient traditional look. It is located in Epping Forest and it is open for visits. All Saint’s Church dating from the 12th century is another nice landmark. Friday Hill House is a remarkable building which used to be a manor house and now is used as an education centre.

Pimps Hill Nature Reserve is a great attraction which contains Pimp Hall Dovecote. The Pole Hill obelisk is another historical place of interest in Chingford. Chingford Old Town Hall on The Ridgeway is a key building which has been sold to property developers.
